There is an urgent need for affordable housing around the world, nationally, and right at home in Camrose.
Habitat for Humanity Camrose helps families build strength, stability and independence through affordable home ownership.
With the help of volunteers and generous donors, we build decent and affordable homes that provide a solid foundation for people to build better, healthier lives in Canada and around the world. Habitat homeowners volunteer up to 500 hours and pay an low interest, affordable mortgage – geared to their income – to buy their home. The affordable mortgage payments go into a revolving fund that allows Habitat for Humanity to build more homes and provide more people with affordable home ownership opportunities.
All Habitat homeowners go through a rigorous application process so that we can determine their level of housing need, their ability to repay Habitat’s interest-free mortgage, and their willingness to partner with us, which includes up to 500 hours of volunteering.
In need of better housing
Potential homebuyers might be dealing with poorly maintained, unhealthy or overcrowded housing; unaffordable rent; inaccessible housing for people living with disabilities; or have other shelter needs.
Willing to partner with Habitat
Habitat homebuyers put in 500 hours of volunteer time with Habitat. This typically involves helping build their own home or the homes of others in the program, volunteering in their local Habitat ReStore as well as taking classes in personal finance, home maintenance and other home ownership topics.
Able to make affordable mortgage payments
Habitat offers home buyers an affordable home ownership opportunity. Their mortgage payments cycle back into the local Habitat for Humanity to help build more affordable houses.
